When Your Mind Won't Quiet at Night
The lights go off and your brain switches on. If that sounds familiar, try this short plan for busy-mind nights.
Heads up: a few links here are affiliate links, explained on how we earn.

Before bed
- Brain-dump on paper. Two minutes, everything on your mind. Circle the one thing for tomorrow. Close the notebook.
- Same bedtime, most nights. Regular timing helps more than most tricks.
- Cool, dark, quiet room. Or as close as you can get.
If negative thoughts tend to get loud for you at night, Delete Script is one nightly audio made for exactly that. Read our honest notes first if you'd like the caveats.
In bed, when thoughts start circling
- Slow exhale. Breathe in for four, out for six or seven, ten times.
- Something dull to hear. A slow audio, soft rain, a familiar audiobook — steady, not exciting.
- Don't argue with the thoughts. "Noted, tomorrow" is enough.
- If you're wide awake after a while, get up, sit somewhere dim, read paper pages and return when sleepy.
About bedtime audio
A lot of people like falling asleep to a voice. Some audio programs are made specifically around negative thoughts at night. We tested one and wrote honest notes on Delete Script — what you get, the price and our caveats. It's a mindset tool, not a treatment, and it won't suit everyone.
When to get help
Ongoing trouble sleeping or racing thoughts that won't let up are worth bringing to a doctor. It's common, and there are proven options.
